Brief Biography
Dr. Silverman received his M.D. at New York University School of Medicine, New York, New York in 1963. Following a year of internship and a year of residency training in Internal Medicine in New York City, and a tour as Captain in the United States Army (at the Supreme Headquarters, Allied Powers Europe), he performed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Michigan. He then joined the Pathology Department at the University of Michigan in 1972.
Dr. Silverman is the director of MLabs, the laboratory outreach program for the University of Michigan Health System. The MLabs program makes the sophisticated laboratory testing facilities and varied expertise of the Department of Pathology available to Hospitals, physicians, and other clients. Dr. Silverman’s clinical activities include Surgical Pathology coverage of MLabs cases. He is also the Director of Laboratories at Trillium and Addison Hospitals, in Albion and Addison, Michigan, respectively.
