Brief
Biography
Dr. Chinnaiyan received his M.D./Ph.D. degrees at the University
of Michigan in 1999. He did his graduate work under Dr. Vishva Dixit where
he identified and cloned several important mediators of the cell death
(apoptosis) pathway including FADD, FLICE (caspase-8) and DR-3 (Death
Receptor-3). Furthermore, he has recently completed his core medical training
in Clinical Pathology.
Since establishing his own laboratory, Dr. Chinnaiyan has been using high-throughput
genomic and proteomic technologies to study human disease-from inflammation
to cancer. He has established the DNA Microarray Laboratory for the Department
of Pathology and has amassed a large database of gene expression profiles
of prostate cancer, as well as systemic inflammation in rat models. For
