Brief Biography:

Dr. Lim received an M.D. from the University of Calgary in 1988 and a Ph.D. in Molecular Oncology from the University of Calgary joint with the Lab of Pathology, National Cancer Institute in 1999. She completed residency training in Anatomic Pathology at the University of Calgary (1988-1993) where she served as Chief Resident, Foothills Hospital in 1991, followed by a Research Fellowship (1993-1995) with the Cancer Research Group at the University of Calgary. From 1995-1998 she completed a Fellowship in Hematopathology in the Lab of Pathology at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health. During her training, she was the recipient of several awards including the Louise McKinney Scholarship for Outstanding Academic Achievement (1982) and the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research Summer Studentship (1983-1985 and 1985-1987), a Full Fee Scholarship Award from the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Calgary (1994-1997), and the National Institutes of Health Fogarty Visiting Fellowship (1996-1998).

She was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto in 1998 and she served as Co-Medical Director of the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory in the Department of Laboratory Medicine, Sunnybrook and Women's College Health Sciences Center, Toronto from 1998-2000. In 2000, she joined the faculty at the University of Utah as Assistant Professor in the Division of Anatomic Pathology and was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 2004. While at the University of Utah, she served as Medical Director for Pediatric Hematology (2000-2006), as Assistant Medical Director of Hematologic Flow Cytometry (2000-2006) and as Medical Director of Pediatric Molecular Hematopathology (2001-2006).

Dr. Lim is the recipient of several awards including the Young Investigator Award (2002) and the Translational Research Award (2004) from the Children's Oncology Group. She is a member of several professional societies including the United States and Canadian Association of Pathology, American Association for Cancer Research, American Society of Hematology, American Society of Investigative Pathology and the Children's Oncology Group. She is a member of the Editorial Board for Laboratory Investigation and serves as a referee for a number of journals including the American Journal of Pathology, Leukemia and Lymphoma and Blood. She is board certified in Anatomic Pathology, Hematopathology and Molecular Genetic Pathology.

Dr. Lim joined the faculty of the Department of Pathology as Associate Professor and Director, Hematopathology in September 2006.
