Brief Bibliography:
Dr. Lucas
received a Ph.D. in Molecular Physiology and Biophysics (1992) and an
M.D. (1996) from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville,
Tennessee which he attended as a member of the Vanderbilt Medical Scientist
Training Program. He completed residency training in the Department
of Pathology at the University of Michigan from 1996-1999, including
training as a fellow in Surgical Pathology. While at Vanderbilt University,
Dr. Lucas received the Most Outstanding Medical Student Award for 1994
from the National Institutes of Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases
and for the period 1992-1994 received a Molecular Endocrinology Training
Fellowship. He also served as a student representative to the Medical
Scientist Training Program (MSTP) Advisory Committee. Dr. Lucas initiated
post-doctoral training in the research laboratory of Gabriel Nunez,
M.D. and after accepting the position of Lecturer in 2001, has continued
his collaborations with Dr. Nunez and his research staff. His current
research efforts are supported by a K08 award from the National Cancer
Institute. In addition, Dr. Lucas provides diagnostic support, in the
area of breast pathology, to the Surgical Pathology Unit in the Division
of Anatomic Pathology.
