Research Interests:

Studies on cancer-associated proteins, specifically the polycomb group of proteins.

Brief Biography:

Dr. Varambally received an M.S. from Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore, India in 1991 and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India in 1997. He initiated post-doctoral training at the Hospital Broussais in Paris, France with Dr. Srini Kaveri during the period 1997-2000 and joined the research laboratory of Arul M. Chinnaiyan, M.D., Ph.D., in 2000 to continue his post-doctoral studies.

Dr. Varambally has continued to pursue his research interests in the development of protein microarry techniques and high throughput validation techniques for protein microarrays and expression profiling of cancers using cDNA microarrays as a member of the Chinnaiyan Laboratory. In 2003, Dr. Varambally was appointed Research Investigator in the Department of Pathology.
