Research Interests:
Molecular basis of inflammation
in the central nervous system, particularly inflammatory molecular events
at the blood brain barrier.

Brief Biography:
Dr. Zochowska received an M.D. from the University of Nis Medical School
(Nis, Yugoslavia) in 1990 and a Ph.D. from the University of Belgrade
Medical School (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) in 1999. Dr. Zochowska held the
position of Lecturer in the Department of Physiology at the University
of Pristina Medical School in PrIstine, Yugoslavia from 1991-1994. She
served as a Research Fellow at the Immunology Research Center "Branislav
Jankovic" in Belgrade during the period 1994-1996, followed by Postdoctoral
Fellowships in the Department of Medicine (1996-1997) and Department of
Pharmacology (1997-1999) at the University of Connecticut Health Center
in Farmington, Connecticut. Following completion of her postdoctoral training,
Dr. Zochowska accepted a position as Instructor in the Department of Pharmacology
at the University of Connecticut Health Center and was promoted to the
rank of Assistant Professor in 2001. She is a member of the Society for
Neuroscience, International Scoiety of Neuroimmunology, Society for In
Vitro Biology, The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Pathology
and the American Stroke Association.
She joined the faculty at the University of Michigan Medical School as
Assistant Research Scientist in the Departments of Pathology and Neurosurgery
in November 2001 and was promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor in
the Department of Pathology in 2005.
