Division of Quality and Health Improvement

As depicted in this graphic, the Michigan Pathology Quality System seeks to integrate a number of disparate efforts under one roof. They are:

  • Maximizing a traditional quality assurance program that focuses on error proofing operational processes along with a monitoring system to surface and respond to problems as they occur
  • A customer-focused approach that believes the core definition of quality is based on how the customer defines value
  • An operational improvement approach to ensure the customer value is delivered by eliminating errors and waste
  • An innovative mindset across the department to ensure new processes and systems are evaluated and implemented to transform the patient experience
