  2. Discuss laboratory approaches for detection, diagnosis, and treatment of alcohol use disorders.
  3. Describe current and emerging biomarkers and their clinical applications.

  1. Review of the past, present, and future of treatment for hemophilia.

  2. Understand the current clinical outcomes and remaining treatment gaps.

  3. Differentiate replacement therapy from substitution and rebalancing therapies with a focus on their respective mechanisms of action, advantages and risks.

1:10 PM: 3rd Annual Batsakis Lecture - Foodborne Disease Outbreak Investigations in Michigan: Notes from the Field

Justin Henderson, MPH, Epidemiologist, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Food and Dairy Division and Rapid Response Team

Objectives:

  1. Describe the three disciplines traditionally involved in foodborne outbreak investigations - laboratory, epidemiology and regulatory - focusing on the information and tools used by the latter two.

  2. Discuss several examples of foodborne outbreak investigations with Michigan involvement.

  3. Discuss recent multistate outbreaks of STEC associated with romaine lettuce and the role of public health in Michigan in the investigations.
