 Brief Biography

Originally from Minnesota, Jessica completed her B.S. at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma WA, in Dr. Beverly Pierson's lab working on biotic oxidation of iron by photosynthetic microbial communities. After working as an anatomic pathology technician at the University of Minnesota Medical Center Fairview she began her graduate work at the University of Alabama Birmingham. She completed her Ph.D. in Dr. Chad Steele's lab at UAB working on the role of the pattern recognition receptor Dectin-1 and Interleukin-17 during pulmonary infection with Aspergillus fumigatus. She is currently a post-doc in Dr. Nunez's lab where she is working on mechanisms of pulmonary sarcoidosis and the role of innate immunity during pulmonary infection.
