Barbara J. McKenna, MD
Professor, Department of Pathology
Dr. McKenna received a B.S. from Michigan State University and an M.D. from the University of Michigan Medical School (1981). She completed residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology in the Department of Pathology at the University of Michigan Medical School and in 1985 joined the medical staff at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga, N.Y. as Staff Physician and Associate Director of Laboratories. She also served as Director of Laboratories at Moses-Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga, New York for the period 1985-1988. In 1988 she accepted a position as Associate Attending Physician at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, N.Y. In 1994, she joined the faculty at Albany Medical College in Albany, N.Y. In 2002, she joined the faculty in the Department of Pathology as Associate Professor, and was promoted to the rank of Professor in 2009. She previously served as the Director of the Surgical Pathology Fellowship and was appointmented as Director of Pathology Education Programs in July 2010.
Dr. McKenna is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Cytopathology, and has expertise in gastrointestinal and hepatic pathology.
