Fellowship Training Programs

The fellowship training opportunities at Michigan are substantial and varied.  There are 9 ACGME-accredited fellowships offering 16 positions, and 9 additional specialty training programs offering 12 positions.  Clinical fellows at Michigan come from near and far, with about half being graduates of our own residency program, and the remaining arriving here from all over the United States.  While each fellowship is designed uniquely to take best advantage of the opportunities available for training, all fellows are essential to our key missions:  clinical patient care, education, and research, and are highly valued members of the department.  Upon completion of their fellowship year(s), about one-third will embark on academic careers, one-third will enter community practice, and the rest will enter second fellowships, often staying here at Michigan.
