The Department of Pathology supports flow cytometry access by its faculty and their postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, trainees and technicians. Such personnel within the Department of Pathology may, following training, use a Becton-Dickinson LSRII or an ACEA NovoCyte flow cytometer for experiments.
A Pathology staff member is assigned to support the instruments, answer questions, and, offer on-demand hardware, software, fluidics and technical expertise to maintain the instruments and to assure their availability. The Core will train Pathology research lab personnel in how to use the cytometer, and basic advice will be offered for how to design flow cytometry experiments. However, instrument users must ultimately run their own samples and be responsible for the technical and scientific legitimacy of their experiments.
