Suzanne ButchA special thanks to the generosity of Ms. Suzanne Butch who provided funds for allied health staff in the Department of Pathology to grow professionally. 


Clinical Pathology Staff Enhancement Fund

  • Established by Suzanne Butch's contributions, this fund will provide funds for allied health staff in the Department of Pathology to grow professionally. Until the fund is fully endowed, Ms. Butch will be making periodic donations to the Staff Enhancement Fund.  These donations can be used for many purposes as determined by the current needs of allied health staff as long as the beneficiaries are considered laboratory students or current staff.
  • In 2023, the Staff Enhancement Fund is being used to support medical laboratory scientists, laboratory technicians, and phlebotomists with reimbursement of their certification or recertification fees due in 2023. Up to $5000 in fees will be covered for staff selected at random from those who signed up. 
    • The deadline for sign-up was May 8, and awardees were notified in May 2023.

  • NEW! In 2024, the Staff Enhancedment Fund is supporting allied health staff (non-faculty laboratory professionals) by covering fees associated with either initial certification or renewal of certification. Guidelines:
    • Recertification ocurred in 2023 or 2024
    • Initial certification or Specialist certification in 2024
    • Funds will be allocated on a first come first serve basis while funds are available

  • You can also sponsor a phlebotomist, lab technician, or medical laboratory scientist by donating to the Clinical Pathology Staff Enhancement Fund.

 

UMich Career Development Fund for Staff

  • Independent from the Department of Pathology, an enhanced commitment to the University of Michigan staff promises to provide up to $1 million for professional development and team development over five years.
  • The fund supports staff in enhancing their professional experience at the university by offering grants of up to $1500 for individuals and up to $5000 for work teams.
    Eligible activities may include:
    • Tuition for instructional classes or events
    • Coursework to earn a degree or certificate
    • Costs for educational resources
    • Workshop or seminar or conference
    • Artistic or creative endeavor
    • Exploring tools, technologies, or other resources intended to enhance team collaboration and dynamics
    • Other work-related professional development
