Oberman Collegiate Professor of Pathology, received a generous donation from The Dynami Foundation to study invasive lobular carcinoma of the breast. The Dynami Foundation recognized Dr. Kleer as an exceptional breast cancer researcher with over 20 years of experience.

“Most invasive lobular carcinomas are estrogen receptor (ER) positive, and most patients have a favorable outcome. However, there are tumors that recur many years after the initial diagnosis, unbeknownst to the patient and clinician. With this donation, my lab will be able to investigate novel mechanisms by which invasive lobular carcinomas remain quiescent and then spread, with the goal to inform more effective treatment strategies” explained Dr. Kleer. “I am very grateful about this generous donation, and I am inspired to make an impact for women with this disease.” The research funded by this award will enable the Kleer laboratory to study a new hybrid breast cancer/mesenchymal stem cell population that they have discovered and elucidate their role in invasive lobular carcinoma dormancy and metastasis.

“We thank the Dynamic Foundation for their unwavering support of our research and shared vision to improve lives of patients with invasive lobular carcinoma.”
