Pathology Welcomes Nine New Clinical Instructors
By Lynn McCain | August 24The path to becoming a pathologist is long and hard, including medical school, residency, and fellowship training. Today, we welcome nine new Clinical Instructors who have joined the ranks of Pathology faculty for the first time. These Clinical Instructors each work in subspecialty areas and are mentored by our senior pathologists as they enhance their expertise and develop into some of the best-trained pathologists in their fields.
Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology Subspecialty
Daniel Alt, MD, PhD: Dr. Alt graduated with an MD and PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, then completed his Anatomic Pathology residency at the University of Michigan.
Breast Pathology Subspecialty
Deepti Jain, MBBS, DNB: Dr. Jain graduated from Santosh Medical College and Hospital in Ghaziabad, India. She completed a residency in Health Administration at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi and earned a Diplomate of National Board in Health Administration/Hospital Administration. She then came to the United States, where she completed her residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Wayne State University.
Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Pathology Subspecialty
Eric Chang, MD: Dr. Chang graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine before coming to the University of Michigan for Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency training.
Gynecologic Pathology Subspecialty
Katharina (Tinka) Wiedemeyer, MD: Dr. Widemeyer graduated from the University of Marburg Medical School in Germany followed by a Dermatology residency at Ruprecht-Karls University and the University of Glessen, Germany. She then came to the United States and completed an Anatomic Pathology residency at the University of Michigan, followed by a Dermatopathology Fellowship, also at Michigan.
Head and Neck Pathology Subspecialty
Faye Oakes, MD: Dr. Oakes graduated from Duke University School of Medicine. She completed Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency training at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.
Pathology Informatics Subspecialty
Michael Olp, MD, PhD: Dr. Olp graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin with an MD and a PhD in Biochemistry. He completed Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency at the University of Michigan, followed by a Molecular Genetic Pathology fellowship, also at Michigan.
Surgical Pathology Subspecialty
Waed Alkaram, MD: Dr. Alkaram graduated from Al-Baath University Faculty of Medicine in the Syrian Arab Republic, then Washington University of Health and Science, Belize. She then completed her residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center, followed by a Cytopathology Fellowship at Corewell Health Hospital, Royal Oak.
Raad Almukhtar, MD: Dr. Almukhtar graduated from the University of Kerbala College of Medicine, Karbala, Iraq. He then came to the United States for his Pathology residency at Henry Ford St. John Hospital, prior to joining the University of Michigan.
Alyssa Vitale, MD: Dr. Vitale graduated from the Ross University School of Medicine in Bridgetown, Barbados. She completed an Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency at Henry Ford Hospital, before coming to the University of Michigan to complete a Cytopathology Fellowship.
