Tomlins Receives 2017 PCF Challenge Award

Scott Tomlins, MD, PhD and Philip Palmbos, MD, PhD, along with team members Maha Hussain, MD, Edward Shaeffer, MD, PhD, Joshua Meeks, MD, PhD, and Roohollah Sharifi, MD, have received a 2017 Prostate Cancer Foundation Challenge Award worth $1,000,000. The team’s research focuses on identifying clinical and molecular predictors of early-onset, imminently lethal prostate cancers.

In total, the Prostate Cancer Foundation awarded $8,000,000 in research funding to eight 2017 PCF Challenge Award teams, bringing its total investment in 2017 to $27.8 million. The winning teams were selected from a pool of 92 international applications following a rigorous peer review process that accessed each project’s scientific merit and potential impact on patients.
