A team of researchers led by Gabriel Nuñez, M.D., Paul de Kruif Professor of Academic Pathology, and Nobuhiko Kamada, Ph.D., a postdoctoral Fellow in the Nuñez Laboratory, reported this week about mechanisms that regulate the interaction of a pathogen with the microbiota and that are critical for growth and eradication of the pathogen in the intestine.  The work has been highlighted by the Medical School at http://www.uofmhealth.org/news/gut-competition-5-10 and published in the journal, Science.
