WELCOME TO
THE DRESSLER LABORATORY

Research in this laboratory at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, is focused on the molecular genetics of embryonic development.

The development of a complex tissue requires the precise orchestration of external cell signaling networks and intrinsic transcription factors. The lab utilizes the developing kidney as a model system to study cell lineage specification, differentiation, and patterning. Strikingly, many of the pathways required for development are associated with renal disease.

THE MOLECULAR BASIS OF DEVELOPMENT

A developing mouse kidney is stained with antibodies against E-cadherin (green),
gadherin-6 (red) and laminin (blue) to visualize the branching epithelia
and the condensing aggregates that will make neurons.
