By Batoul Aoun | June 10 2021

The Department of Pathology is pleased to announce that Dr. Carmen Gherasim has been chosen as this year’s recipient of the 2020-2021 Faculty Teaching Award. This award is voted for by the residents and given annually to a faculty member who demonstrates exceptional dedication to resident education and teaching.

In the past year, Dr. Gherasim has had extraordinary demands placed on her with the overhaul of the Clinical Chemistry operations at the University Hospital. While she has been meeting these demands, Dr. Gherasim has also found time to maintain an exemplary standard of excellence in resident education. She strives to involve residents in day-to-day lab operations and she takes ample time for dedicated didactics on academic and scientific subjects. Dr. Gherasim is always welcoming, kind, and collaborative, which is why she is so successful in guiding resident-based research and abstract submissions.

For these reasons, we would like to thank Dr. Gherasim and congratulate her for embodying a standard of professionalism for her commitment to resident education.
