Gabriel Núñez, MD, Named Distinguished Fellow of the AAI Class of 2026

Gabriel Núñez, MD, the Paul de Kruif Professor of Pathology, was recognized as a Distinguished Fellow of the American Association of Immunologists (AAI) Class of 2026. The honor was presented during the Immunology 2026 Conference, as part of the AAI President’s Address delivered by AAI President Ulrich H. von Andrian, MD.

The Distinguished Fellows program recognizes AAI members for their outstanding scientific achievements, distinguished careers, and dedicated service to both the organization and the broader immunology community. Recipients are selected by the AAI Council based on their long-standing contributions to the field and engagement with the organization. Member nominations are not accepted for this honor.

"It was an honor to be selected by the members of the AAI Council for this prestigious award honoring my work and service over the past 35 years in the field of Immunology," said Núñez. "I give major credit to the remarkable trainees who made groundbreaking discoveries while working in my laboratory at Michigan."

Dr. Núñez is internationally recognized for his pioneering research in immunology, inflammation, and host-microbe interactions. His work has significantly advanced the understanding of innate immunity and the molecular mechanisms underlying inflammatory diseases.

This recognition highlights Dr. Núñez’s many years of impactful research, leadership, and service to the scientific community.
