TSkala, Stephanie 500 x 500.jpghe International Society of Gynecological Pathologists has posted a podcast featuring discussion with Dr. Stephanie Skala about the use of p53/CK17 immunohistochemistry in the diagnosis of differentiated vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia. The episode highlights the recent publication by former trainees Drs. Emily McMullen-Tabry, Shula Schechter, and Grace Wang, former UM faculty Dr. Andrew Sciallis, and current UM faculty Drs. Steven Hrycaj, May Chan, and Stephanie Skala. Accurate diagnosis of differentiated vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia (dVIN) is known to be challenging due to morphologic and immunohistochemical overlap with benign/reactive entities. The podcast also features discussion between Drs. Stephanie Skala, Carlos Parra-Herran, and Jaclyn Watkins about their opinions of helpful morphologic criteria as well as how they approach diagnosis of HPV-independent squamous lesions of the vulva.
