Celebrating 50 years at UMich Path

The Department of Pathology congratulates Carol Young, Clinical Research Project Manager in Microbiology, on an extraordinary milestone: 50 years of dedicated service at the University of Michigan.Carol Young

Carol earned her Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology from the University of Michigan in 1975 and soon after became certified as a Medical Technologist (MT(ASCP)). Over the past five decades, she has witnessed and contributed to the evolution of clinical microbiology, including advances in new technologies, antimicrobial agents, molecular testing, and nomenclature changes, among other developments.

“I have been fortunate to have the support of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory leadership, who encouraged me to explore new opportunities, embrace new technologies, and engage with the regional microbiology community, SCACM, throughout my career. I think ‘outside the box,’ ask questions about what we do and why, and seek better solutions. Continuing education has always been a passion of mine.”

Congratulations, Carol, on 50 incredible years! Your expertise and dedication have been instrumental in the growth of our department and the advancement of Medical Laboratory Science.
